“Orange the World”: UniCredit Bank Austria actively combats violence against women

  • Two branches of UniCredit Bank Austria in Vienna and Graz will be lit up in orange for 16 days as a sign against violence, and orange LED strips will be lit up in numerous other branches
  • UniCredit’s headquarters in Milan will shine orange on 25 November 2025

On the occasion of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” on 25 November, UniCredit Bank Austria will set a visible sign for ending violence against women – for the fifth consecutive time. The UniCredit Bank Austria Women’s Network – Frauenforum, founded in 1997, is the driving force behind the “Orange the World” initiative within the bank. Two selected branches will be lit up in orange from 25 November until the “International Human Rights Day” on 10 December: the “Am Spitz” branch in Vienna-Floridsdorf as well as the “Herrengasse” branch in the Styrian capital Graz. The LED strips in the entrance areas of numerous other branches will also shine orange, while the information screens in all branches will also be used. On 25 November 2025, the UniCredit Tower, the highest building in Italy, will be lit up orange at the UniCredit headquarters in Milan.

“Violence against women is a global human rights issue - and also a reality in Austria: one in three women is affected. As UniCredit Bank Austria, we are committed to equal opportunities and zero tolerance of any form of violence and discrimination. By supporting the ‘Orange the World’ campaign, we want to raise awareness and promote change”, emphasises Ivan Vlaho, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria.

Key priorities: safe and inclusive workplace, gender equality, and diversity
UniCredit has implemented specific workplace policies against harassment, sexual misconduct and bullying across the Group to prevent, detect and sanction such unacceptable behavior, as well as an anti-retaliation policy to protect employees and third parties who report misconduct from retaliation.

Svetlana Pančenko, UniCredit Bank Austria Board Member for People & Culture: “Violence against women affects us all. Only together can we create a culture of zero tolerance towards violence. With ‘Orange the World’, we are sending a strong signal of solidarity and responsibility.”

Focus on financial education for women
Through its extensive cooperation with “Teach for Austria”, UniCredit Bank Austria is also strongly committed to providing financial education to female students in socioeconomically disadvantaged schools. As part of this partnership, the “Girls Go Finance” event initiated by Marion Morales Albiñana-Rosner, Member of the Management Board for Wealth Management and Private Banking at UniCredit Bank Austria has been held annually at the UniCredit Center am Kaiserwasser since 2023. Around 250 female students aged 13 to 15 take part in various workshops on topics such as financial literacy, women-specific financial matters, internet safety, sustainability, and self-confidence.

In Austria, too, girls and women often do not have the same opportunities as men. They often earn less and therefore receive a lower pension later in life. Financial education and strengthening self-confidence are important levers for counteracting this and thus making an important contribution to the prevention of violence. The Women's Forum of UniCredit Bank Austria is also strongly committed to this.

About “Orange the World”
Making the fight to end violence against women and girls visible – this is the goal of the UN campaign “Orange the World”, in which symbolic buildings around the world light up in orange light for 16 days. The campaign takes place annually between 25 November, “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”, and 10 December, “International Human Rights Day”.
