Mastercard Identity Check procedure

All debit cards and Bank Austria credit cards are automatically registered for the Mastercard Identity Check procedure. This does not apply to MegaCard 7–13 cardholders.

With the debit card, you can make secure payments online at all retailers that accept Mastercard.
To make these payments, you need to enter the 16-digit card number/PAN (on the back of the card), the 3-digit verification number (on the back of the card), and your personal details on the online retailer's payment page. Here you will find an image of the front and back of the card with an explanation.

To verify the card payment, the online retailer sends a request to the bank in the background. The customer is then prompted via the MobileBanking app to approve the payment using biometrics (fingerprint/Face ID) or ATC (authorization code).

This confirms the payment by the bank and completes the purchase.

The Mastercard Identity Check procedure can be deactivated in the MobileBanking app and in 24You Online banking.
This does not affect your ability to make payments at POS terminals or withdraw cash from ATMs.
