CURRENT WARNINGS

Stay Safe This Summer

The summer holiday season is a time to relax and travel – unfortunately, fraudsters often take advantage of this period to target unsuspecting victims. Please remain especially vigilant regarding the following:

  • Travel Bookings: Use only trusted booking platforms. Carefully check website addresses and links and be particularly cautious of unusually cheap offers or requests for urgent payment.
  • Card Fraud: Be vigilant when using ATMs. Always cover the keypad with your free hand when entering your PIN and never let your bank card out of your sight.
  • Public Wi-Fi: Avoid using online banking services via open, unsecured networks. Whenever possible, use a VPN connection to help protect your data.
  • Ticket Scams: Purchase concert and event tickets only from official sellers or authorized vendors. Be cautious of offers on classified ad websites or social media platforms.”

Never Share your TANs and PINs!

There is currently an increase in fraud attempts. Please be vigilant regarding suspicious phone calls or messages, as well as requests to authorize transactions or to share TANs and PINs.

Attention: Bank Austria employees will never request payments from you over the phone.

Currently, scams are circulating in which customers log onto fraudulent websites due to fake messages. These customers then receive calls claiming to be from Bank Austria. Scammers urge victims to make transfers for security reasons.

Important Note:
Bank employees will never ask you to share TANs, PIN or make transfers for any reasons. If you have received such calls or clicked on a link, please contact +43 (0) 50505-26105 immediately.
