The Bank Austria Social Award is being presented for the sixteenth consecutive year to recognize social initiatives in Austria. The winner of the Bank Austria Social Award 2025 in Vienna is the project “NextGen.Macht.Kunst.” The project is aimed at hard-to-reach migrant youth who often experience disorientation and social exclusion, which can lead to dropping out of school or unemployment. Art workshops are offered in collaboration with mumok to open up new perspectives.
Bank Austria Social Award presented 2025 for the sixteenth time
A regional jury made the preliminary selection and sent three projects to the final online vote. Between July 7 and September 4 2025, the general public was able to cast their votes on the Social Award platform (http://sozialpreis.bankaustria.at) and thus decide on the winners. The prize money of 6,000 euros goes to the winning project “NextGen.Macht.Kunst” (NACHBARINNEN in Vienna), the second-placed project “Vom Wissen, Fühlen und Hilfe-holen” (Selbstlaut – Specialist Center Against Sexualized Violence Against Children and Young People) will receive 3,000 euros, and the project “Strengthening Powers – Overcoming Trauma” (AYFA – Intercultural Health Promotion) will receive 1,000 euros.
Ivan Vlaho, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria, emphasizes: “The extraordinary commitment of charitable projects, associations, and initiatives throughout Austria is impressive. With the Bank Austria Social Award, we are honoring this commitment for the sixteenth time in a row and supporting social projects in the regions in their valuable work. The number and quality of the submissions demonstrate the diversity of social activities in Austria, which we are once again highlighting with this award.”
About the winning project “NextGen.Macht.Kunst”
“NextGen.Macht.Kunst” is aimed at young migrants - especially young Syrian, Afghan, and Chechen men and young Somali women - who are particularly affected by exclusion and a lack of perspectives. In cooperation with the mumok, the project opens up new opportunities and possibilities for expression through art workshops. The program is supplemented by collaboration with musicians and lyricists and one-on-one meetings with educational advisors. The aim is to provide long-term support to young people so that they can successfully complete their education and pursue their own chosen path.
