UniCredit Bank Austria presents the ‘Student of the Year in Management and Economics’ award

  • The prize, which has been awarded by the Bank Austria Foundation since 1999, goes once again this year to students on the Bachelor’s programme in Economics – Management and Economics at the University of Innsbruck

Laura Lentz, from Luxembourg, has been named Student of the Year at the University of Innsbruck’s faculties of economics. The ‘Student of the Year in Management and Economics’ award comes with prize money of 1,500 euros, provided by the Bank Austria Foundation.

Every year, students on the Bachelor’s programme in Economics – Management and Economics and the Bachelor’s programme in International Economics at the University of Innsbruck can apply for the title of ‘Student of the Year in Management and Economics’. In addition to excellent academic performance, the students’ community and social engagement are also prerequisites for this award. From a large number of applications, the jury selected Laura Lentz from Luxembourg as this year’s ‘Student of the Year’.

Laura Lentz has been studying International Economics at the University of Innsbruck since 2023. There, she has distinguished herself through her excellent academic performance. Last year, she spent a semester abroad at University College Dublin.

Alongside her studies, Laura Lentz has been involved for two years as a Student Ambassador within the Aurora European University Alliance, playing an active role in international university collaborations. A field trip to Brussels and her participation in the Erasmus+ event ‘Generation for the Earth’ in Rome have deepened her awareness of climate protection and responsible economic management. Furthermore, she has been a board member of the Akademischer Börsenverein Innsbruck for over a year, where, as Head of Marketing, she is responsible for the association’s strategic communications.

This year, Daniel Huber, Moritz Rainer and Valerio Zauchner were honoured with recognition awards of 500 euros each.

The winners were selected by the Board of Trustees of the Bank Austria Förderstiftung, of which Dieter Hengl, Board Member for Corporates at UniCredit Bank Austria, is also a member. “We are proud that, as part of our social commitment , we have been supporting students at the University of Innsbruck with this prize for so many years. In our view, the award brilliantly combines regional and international dimensions, thereby also reflecting our self-image as a successful pan-European commercial bank,” says Hengl.

“In addition to academic achievement, extracurricular involvement in social, cultural, economic and sporting areas is also a very important criterion for us when awarding the prize. Sound social values, alongside our international focus and strong regional roots, are an important part of our corporate culture. We also prioritise these areas in Tyrol, and this prize for students at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Innsbruck is a wonderful testament to this,” says Markus Sappl, Regional Director Corporates in Tyrol at UniCredit Bank Austria.
