Jazz Picnic in Bank Austria Park – a matinee with Wiener Symphoniker

  • Under the motto “Art Unlimited – Top-class art for everyone”, a concert featuring a jazz ensemble from the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra will take place on Sunday, 14 June 2026, from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm, at Bank Austria Park, An der Oberen Alten Donau 105, 1210 Vienna
  • Admission to the concert is free
  • There will be food trucks on site where food and drink can be purchased

Under the direction of percussionist Friedrich Philipp-Pesendorfer (Flip Philipp), the “Symphonic Jazz Project” presents arrangements of well-known orchestral works and operas. The programme brings together famous masterpieces from opera, musicals and symphonic works into a varied musical journey – from the monumental soundscape of Thus Spoke Zarathustra, through rousing opera classics such as “Va, Pensiero”, “La donna è mobile” and “Nessun dorma”, to the well-known melodies from West Side Story. Well-known works such as the “Habanera” from Carmen, the lively Can-Can from Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Ravel’s fascinating Boléro will be performed at Bank Austria Park in virtuoso arrangements.

Ivan Vlaho, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria: “We are very proud to be the new general sponsor of the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra. As part of the reorganisation and expansion of our cultural sponsorship, the focus is on cultural offerings that are open to a wide audience. We want to provide low-threshold, yet high-quality access to art and culture. In a nutshell: we support top-class art for everyone, world-class art for a broad audience. That is Bank Austria’s new guiding principle for cultural sponsorship.”

Highlights of the partnership with Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra
With their rich history and tireless spirit of discovery, the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra forms the beating heart of Vienna, the metropolis of classical music. With around 180 concerts per season, the orchestra shapes the musical culture of its home city, uniquely connecting the past, present and future. In addition to the major concert series at Wiener Konzerthaus and Musikverein, the orchestra regularly performs at extraordinary concert venues throughout Vienna – deliberately making itself accessible to all Viennese residents.

Together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, UniCredit Bank Austria is sending a strong signal in support of cultural participation and high-quality art for all.

The cooperation focuses in particular on these selected concert formats:

  • On 13 May 2026, the “Beisl” concerts took place around Yppenplatz in Ottakring, with ensembles from the Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra performing in various venues across the 16th district – all with free admission and in a cosy atmosphere.
  • The Jazz Picnic in Bank Austria Park on 14 June 2026 at 11.00 am, with free admission.
  • The Wiener Symphoniker Orchestra’s Prater Picnic on 1 and 2 July 2026, featuring Ilia Staple, Rolando Villazón, Teya and Holly Hyun Choe on Kaiserwiese in Prater. ORF 2 will broadcast the concert on Friday, 3 July.
  • Vienna Advent on 16 December 2026 at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna with Christiane Karg, Lucas van Lierop and Elim Chan. ORF III will broadcast the concert on the 4th Sunday of Advent at 8.15 pm.
