Albert Angersbach appointed Chief Risk Officer of UniCredit Bank Austria, Wolfgang Schilk to become CRO of HypoVereinsbank
The Supervisory Board of UniCredit Bank Austria today resolved to appoint Albert Angersbach, currently Head of Credit Risk Operations at HypoVereinsbank (HVB), as CRO of UniCredit Bank Austria as of April 1, 2026. The competent state commissioners have been informed of the resolution which will become effective upon expiry of the regulatory review period. He succeeds Wolfgang Schilk, who will assume the role of CRO at HVB in Germany on the same date.
Albert Angersbach returns to the bank where his career began. He started in 2006 as a Corporate and Industry Analyst at UniCredit Bank Austria. After serving as Credit Officer at Deutsche Bank, he rejoined UniCredit Group in 2010, taking on leadership roles including Head of Underwriting and later CRO at ATF Bank in Kazakhstan. Angersbach subsequently held CRO positions at UniCredit banks in Croatia, Turkey, Russia, and Bulgaria. Most recently, he served as Head of Credit Risk Operations at HVB in Munich. He holds a Master’s degree in International Finance and Law from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (2006).

Wolfgang Schilk, who studied law at the University of Vienna, will take over as CRO at HypoVereinsbank on April 1, 2026. He began his career as a restructuring manager for corporate loans at Creditanstalt and later headed various credit departments at UniCredit Bank Austria. Schilk also worked in sales as Regional Manager for Lower Austria before becoming Head of Risk Management for private and SME customers as well as Private Banking including derivative transactions. Within UniCredit Group, he has held several senior positions, including Chief Risk Officer of Yapi Kredi Group in Turkey and Chief Risk Officer CEE. Since November 2020, he has served as CRO of UniCredit Bank Austria.
