UniCredit Bank Austria presents “Student of the Year in Management and Economics” award
- The prize, which has been awarded by the Bank Austria Sponsoring Foundation since 1999, will again be awarded this year to students of the bachelor's degree programme in Economics - Management and Economics at the University of Innsbruck
Jonathan Bernsteiner from Saalfelden was named “Student of the Year” at the University of Innsbruck's Faculty of Economics. The “Student of the Year in Management and Economics” award is endowed with prize money of 2,000 euros, which is provided by the Bank Austria Sponsoring Foundation.
Every year, students on the Bachelor's degree programme in Management and Economics and the Bachelor's degree programme in International Economics at the University of Innsbruck can apply for the title “Student of the Year in Management and Economics”. In addition to very good academic performance, students must also demonstrate social commitment. This year, the jury selected Jonathan Bernsteiner from Saalfelden in Salzburg as “Student of the Year” from a large number of applications.
Jonathan Bernsteiner has been studying economics at the University of Innsbruck since 2022. Here he distinguished himself through excellent academic achievements. International study visits have already taken him to Hongik University in Seoul and the University of Hong Kong.
He showed great motivation early on - first in competitive biathlon and later by founding a sustainable fashion label. During his studies, he managed the Innsbruck office of icons - consulting by students, a student-run management consultancy. After volunteering in a children's home in Kenya, he also founded the organization Maono Running, which supports children and young people in north-western Kenya through sport and education.
This year, Lina Landwehr and Michael Trampitsch were honored with recognition prizes of 500 euros each. The prizewinners were chosen by the Board of Trustees of the Bank Austria Sponsoring Foundation, of which Dieter Hengl, Member of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank Austria responsible for Corporates, is also a member. “We are proud that we have been supporting students at the University of Innsbruck with this award for so many years as part of our social commitment. In our view, the award is an excellent combination of regionality and internationality and thus also reflects our self-image as a successful pan-European commercial bank,” says Hengl.
“In addition to student achievements, extracurricular commitment in social, cultural, economic and sporting areas is also a very important criterion for us in awarding the prize. Sound social values are an important part of our corporate culture, alongside our international orientation and strong regional roots. We also set these priorities in Tyrol and this prize for students at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Innsbruck is a good sign of this,” says Daniel Hechl, Deputy Regional Director Corporate Clients Tyrol at UniCredit Bank Austria.
