BA-CA Company Kindergarten in Leopold Moses Gasse
Run by the non-profit organisation Kinderfreunde in Vienna, the BA-CA company kindergarten in Leopold Moses Gasse in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt celebrated its ten year anniversary today. Among those offering their congratulations were Grete Laska, the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Young People, BA-CA managing board member Regina Prehofer, Wolfgang Heinzl, Chairman of the Central Works Council of BA-CA and Christian Morawek, Managing Director of Kinderfreunde in Vienna. The circa 350 guests, including many children who used to attend the nursery and their parents, were treated to musical performances by the children as well as the opportunity to find out more about the history of the kindergarten in the nursery’s own media centre.

The children handed out copies of the BA-CA company kindergarten anniversary newspaper and the donations received will be passed on by the children of the BA-CA company kindergarten as a donation for children as part of the kindergarten project “Light for the World”. One of the highlights of the day was the release of 150 balloons by the kindergarten children. Dr. Bernhard Schwarz, head of Human Resources Austria at BA-CA, gave the starter’s orders and the event was managed by Diversity Manager Leopoldine Faber who was the initiator of the BA-CA company kindergarten.
“Vienna offers a comprehensive service provision for childcare services which is unique in Austria, both in terms of the educational offering and the opening hours. This is only possible because private and public institutions are working closely together,” explained Greta Laska, the Councillor for Young People. The BA-CA company kindergarten is a successful example of this cooperation and I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations on this its tenth anniversary,” added Laska.
Regina Prehofer reported that the bank had recognised as early as 1990 that companies needed to put in place the framework parameters that would bring work and family life closer together. “We wanted our employees to know that their children were being well looked after so they had no cause for concern and could concentrate fully on their jobs,” said Regina Prehofer. BA-CA has always won awards in the past for its women and family friendly policies and the bank has also certainly scored well over the years with its company kindergarten.
Christian Morawek, Managing Director of Kinderfreunde in Vienna sees Kinderfreunde as a modern kindergarten operator with a childcare tradition spanning almost 100 years. “In company kindergartens we are able to agree high quality care with framework parameters that are precisely tailored to that company. This has been especially successful here thanks in particular to the close cooperation between our excellent kindergarten team headed by Helga Hauptmann and the dedicated HR staff and works council at BA-CA.”
Morawek knows what he is talking about as Kinderfreunde in Vienna is a pioneering organisation and is now the market leader when it comes to company kindergartens. Kinderfreunde launched the first company kindergarten in Vienna in 1974. Today, the organisation operates 23 company kindergartens in Vienna alone making it far and away the market leader in Austria. The team at Kinderfreunde are happy to share their extensive expertise with companies and organisations interested in having a company kindergarten.
