UniCredit Bank Austria offers a total of 360 internships and 40 apprenticeships in 2020

  • Training initiatives are particularly important in the current situation due to difficulties caused by the Corona crisis
  • UniCredit Bank Austria is again offering a total of 200 internships for students at technical colleges and universities
  • In addition, 160 students have the opportunity to complete a summer internship at the bank in July and August
  • In August UniCredit Bank Austria will again take on 40 apprentices
  • UniCredit Bank Austria will also ensure a perfect career start for 15 high school graduates in the "BestStart" training programme

In the current situation, every effort has been made in order to ensure the health and safety of all employees and all new hires, in particular, to make it possible for a total of around 360 interns to gain their first work experience at the Bank this year and to ensure that all training initiatives are implemented as planned.

This year, a total of around 200 internships will again be given to students at technical colleges and universities. In the summer, 160 students will also be able to complete their summer internships both in Vienna and in the federal states, mainly in the branches of UniCredit Bank Austria. The intake of 40 apprentices in autumn has also been secured by implementing an online recruiting. UniCredit Bank Austria also offers 30 high-school graduates excellent opportunities for starting their careers as part of its BestStart training programme.

"Especially in the Corona crisis, training initiatives are particularly important for the Austrian economy and society as a whole", emphasises Robert Zadrazil, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria. "Especially in the current situation, it was therefore of particular importance to us to ensure the training of young  professionals and to continue investing in the future".

The 200 students will be assigned to numerous areas of the bank in three- to six-month internships and will be able to gain valuable experience for the start of their professional life and gain valuable insights into the operations of a pan-European banking group. In July and August, UniCredit Bank Austria offers places for holiday internships both in Vienna and in the federal states. The students of the 3rd BHS or 7th AHS or a higher school level or high school graduates gain their first professional experience in a branch of UniCredit Bank Austria.

Career entry in times of Corona
This year, 30 young professionals will be starting their training programme at UniCredit Bank Austria. During the Corona crisis, UniCredit Bank Austria has adapted and successfully completed the application and recruitment process for its "Best Start" training programme for high school graduates and career changers within a very short period of time. During the Corona crisis, the application process for all training initiatives was conducted primarily online and via alternative channels.

"Summer internships, internships and the training of apprentices and high school graduates within the framework of our 'Best Start' programme are essential to ensure that new impulses are continually generated within our Bank. Therefore, especially during the Corona crisis, it was a matter of utmost importance for us to make every effort to successfully continue and complete the application processes for these important positions. Both for the applicants and for us, the whole process became a completely new digital experience", says Georgiana Lazar, Head of Human Capital at UniCredit Bank Austria. "Our world is changing and it is up to us to shape the future positively. As part of UniCredit Bank Austria, our interns and young professionals work for one of the largest and most modern universal banks with access to international financial markets - and they have the opportunities to shape and change. We offer many opportunities for development and further education and we live values that help our community and ensure diversity in our company," says Lazar.
