“From the couch”: UniCredit Bank Austria supports local companies in the digital distribution of their business ideas via video

  • The corona crisis has two side effects: On the one hand, local businesses are looking for new ways to digitalise their business, on the other hand, people need actuation options for which they do not have to leave home
  • UniCredit Bank Austria has set itself the goal of helping to solve these two problems with its new “From the Couch” campaign, which will be launched today

The idea is simple: UniCredit supports local small businesses, self-employed people and creative individuals in digitising their business ideas and producing short “How-to...” videos on various topics for people who currently cannot leave their homes – from apartment to apartment, so to speak. For each video that goes live, the producer of the video receives a fee of 80 euros from UniCredit Bank Austria. The “From the Couch” videos are intended to inform and entertain people in Austria during the Corona period and possibly beyond.

“The initiative of ‘From the Couch’ videos is intended to contribute to supporting local communities, presenting creative alternatives to keep life moving despite the current restrictions,” says Mauro Maschio, Member of the Management Board Privatkundenbank of UniCredit Bank Austria. “We are convinced that there are many great ideas to connect people in these times. Through a shared passion to create, learn and try things out, these ideas can bring people closer together”.

How does it work

Local companies, artists & freelancers can easily register on the UniCredit Bank Austria website www.bankaustria.at/von-der-couch-aus.jsp to produce so-called “How-to...” videos with their mobile phones. As soon as their concept is approved, the participants will receive instructions on how to easily film the videos in their own four walls - even without previous filming experience.

There are no limits to the ideas for such videos. Participants can be cooks, yoga teachers, zero waste & sustainability experts as well as tinkerers, designers and many more.

The “From the couch” videos are published daily in the online magazine BAM!, which is the media partner of UniCredit Bank Austria, and on its YouTube channel. They are also posted on various other social media channels so that they reach as many people as possible throughout Austria.

The participants can of course also use the videos to present and promote themselves or their company. Because each video also includes contact, product and service information and thus supports the video producers or their company in the current exceptional situation.

All interested parties can apply to film their tutorial video for “From the Couch” starting Tuesday, April 7, 2020. The application phase will run as long as the measures of the federal government to limit social contacts due to the coronavirus remain in place in Austria.  Participants can apply by answering a few simple questions at BAM! website.
