Dieter Hengl succeeds Franz Witt-Dörring as new CEO of Schoellerbank and assumes overall responsibility for Wealth Management Austria
- Dieter Hengl, Board Member for Corporate & Investment Banking in UniCredit Bank Austria, is appointed new CEO of Schoellerbank and Head of Wealth Management in Austria as of 1 September 2019
- Franz Witt-Dörring, former CEO of Schoellerbank, will step down from Schoellerbank’s board of managing directors at the end of August for personal reasons and will ensure a full handover to his successor
- Schoellerbank will be expanded as UniCredit‘s Wealth Management hub in Austria
- UniCredit Wealth Management aims to become one of the top wealth management players in Europe by harnessing strong synergies between different business units such as Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management
After seven successful years as CEO of Schoellerbank, Franz Witt-Dörring decided for personal reasons to step down from his position on the Management Board at the end of August. As CEO, Franz Witt-Dörring strenghtened Schoellerbank to become one of Austria's leading private banks. Dieter Hengl succeeds Franz Witt-Dörring as CEO of Schoellerbank and also assumes overall responsibility for Wealth Management Austria, which includes both the Wealth Management area within UniCredit Bank Austria and Schoellerbank. Dieter Hengl’s new responsibilities as of 1 September 2019 are in line with the reorganisation of Wealth Management throughout UniCredit to prepare for the new strategic plan 2020–2023. He also becomes a member of the Group Wealth Management Executive Committee.

Dieter Hengl has been responsible for Corporate & Investment Banking in the management board of UniCredit Bank Austria since 2011 and, in this function, he is also a member of the Executive Committee of UniCredit’s Corporate & Investment Banking Division. A law graduate, he started his career at UniCredit Bank Austria in 1990, where he held various management positions in risk management and corporate & investment banking prior to his appointment to the Management Board.
