UniCredit Bank Austria donates 100,000 euros for cultural crowdfunding

  • UniCredit Bank Austria is supporting cultural projects from all over Austria in cooperation with the crowdfunding platform “wemakeit” for the fifth time with a total of 100,000 euros.
  • Since 2015, UniCredit Bank Austria, together with 11,000 supporters, has financed 134 art projects with a total of 1.4 million euros.
  • Crowdfunding campaigns to start on 14 May 2019

This year UniCredit Bank Austria is providing EUR 100,000 for cultural projects of social relevance for the fifth time in a row. In 2015, the Bank launched the most successful reward-based crowdfunding initiative in the domestic cultural scene. Once again this year, the crowdfunding platform "wemakeit", which specialises in cultural projects, will act as a partner. In recent years, 134 projects and initiatives have been implemented thanks to this initiative. Together with around 11,000 supporters, UniCredit Bank Austria helped to ensure that the Austrian art and cultural scene received around EUR 1.4 million.

“Art and culture are important parts of our society. As one of the largest private cultural sponsors in Austria, it is important for us to also support smaller projects, as these are very often characterised by impressive commitment and high creativity”, emphasises Robert Zadrazil, CEO of UniCredit Bank Austria. "The cultural scene has accepted crowdfunding, this increasingly popular form of financing, very well. Over the years, the Bank Austria crowdfunding initiative developed into an independent and successful brand in the field of cultural promotion. We are looking forward to creative projects with a strong innovative character again this year.”

How does the crowdfunding initiative work?
Within the framework of crowdfunding, UniCredit Bank Austria provides a total of EUR 100,000 for projects throughout Austria. The Bank pays particular attention to young and innovative projects of social relevance.
Each successful crowdfunding campaign receives a third of its total financing up to a maximum of EUR 5,000 from UniCredit Bank Austria. The requirement is the financing of the first third by at least 20 supporters. The last third must then again be financed by its own network - the crowd. Once the campaign is successfully completed, the total amount is paid out.

wemakeit as a strong partner
The crowdfunding platform wemakeit is again a partner of UniCredit Bank Austria this year. It was founded in 2012 as an artists' initiative in Switzerland and has developed into one of the largest and most successful crowdfunding platforms in Europe thanks to its personal support and focus on creative projects.
