UniCredit presents international tour of Filarmonica della Scala
- 17 concerts in nine countries
- Two concerts in Vienna on 29th and 30th of January
- Independent orchestra dedicated to the symphonic repertoire
In 2018, Filarmonica della Scala will play seventeen international concerts from January and September, on three tours led by Riccardo Chailly, Christoph Eschenbach, Daniel Harding and Myung-whun Chung. Among these appearances, it will perform in Vienna on 29th and 30th of January at Wiener Musikverein.
In recent years, the Filarmonica della Scala has greatly increased its international appearances, celebrating its rich history with performances at renowned concert halls and festivals around the world.
UniCredit has been supporting the orchestra as a partner since 2000 and in 2003 became its main partner. Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of UniCredit and Chairman of Filarmonica della Scala, said: “The most important part of the relationship between UniCredit and Filarmonica is that we share the same goal: to provide the experience of music to the communities that we serve. Together, we are making classical music available to a broader, more diverse audience, educating the next generation of concert goers and supporting projects that promote a sense of community and well-being.”
Various programs
In January, Chailly will conduct the music presented by the orchestra in the first two concerts of the season in Europe, with soloists Benjamin Grosvenor and Denis Matsuev alternating at the piano. The tour begins at the Barbican Centre in London (January 24 – soloist Grosvenor), followed by two dates at the Vienna Musikverein (January 29 and 30 – soloist Matsuev) and concerts in Budapest (January 25, Béla Bartók National Concert Hall), Paris (January 26, Philharmonie), Luxembourg (January 27, Philharmonie) and Lucerne (March 21, Festival). On May 27, following their La Scala concert, Daniel Harding and the Filarmonica will travel to Istanbul to play Beethoven's Eroica and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto with Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov. Between the end of August and September, the Filarmonica will embark on a tour of Italy (Rimini, Turin, Merano, Verona) and of Europe (Ljubljana, Grafenegg, Gstaad, Wiesbaden) under two familiar conductors, Christoph Eschenbach and Myung-whun Chung, with leading soloists such as Sol Gabetta, Vilde Frang, Jan Lisiecki, Seong-Jin Cho, and soprano Olga Peretyatko.
