Bank Austria Private Banking number one in largest customer segment

  • Best private banking for investment volumes between one and five million US dollars
  • Regionality and quality of asset management are key to success
  • 16 Euromoney awards for UniCredit Private Banking: best private banking in CEE

Bank Austria Private Banking stood out in the Euromoney Private Banking Survey, one of the most prestigious polls in the field of asset management, as the best provider in Austria for customers with an investment volume between one and five million US dollars. In addition, UniCredit was designated as the best private banking provider in Central and Eastern Europe. "These awards demonstrate to us that our decision to use the advantages of a leading international banking group in areas such as innovation and implementation of new regulations while at the same time putting greater focus on the wishes and needs of our customers locally is the right one", said a delighted Robert Zadrazil, Member of the Bank Austria Management Board for Private Banking.

Bank Austria Private Banking number one in customer segment with strongest revenues
Bank Austria Private Banking was crowned the winner in Austria for the highest-revenue customer segment, the "super affluents" with an investment volume between one and five million US dollars. As always, asset management was named as a key factor. "In a sustained low interest environment with volatile stock markets, investors increasingly value leaving the management of their wealth to experts who have the necessary market information in real time as well as the experience and know-how to quickly and flexibly find the most profitable areas for assets during market changes", explained Zadrazil, before continuing: "We therefore offer asset management to our customers through '5Invest' on the one hand, where investments are made depending on the risk classification of the customer by an expert team at Bank Austria. On the other hand, we introduced a new service model in 2015 in the shape of 'UNIVERS', where customers can make investment decisions with a transparent flat-rate fee that is completely independent of transaction cost considerations. This is aimed at investors who place value on professional advice and execution but like to make the specific investment decisions themselves. This is how we meet the needs and desires of the vast majority of our customers". This trend is partly reflected in the rise of managed customer funds (assets under management) by 16.3 percent compared with the previous year, and partly to the huge success of 'UNIVERS'. By the end of 2015, customers had already chosen this model to the tune of EUR 600 million.

With a total of 16 awards, UniCredit is also the best private banking service provider in CEE
UniCredit’s private banking division won no less than 16 awards in various regional and local categories in the Euromoney Private Banking Survey 2016.
The Euromoney study showed that in the most important growth area for private banking, Central and Eastern Europe, regional providers play an increasingly important role. While customers from this region have previously invested their money mainly in Western Europe and especially Switzerland, banks with a strong local presence are becoming increasingly attractive now. This is how UniCredit with its regional operations secured a victory in this region over UBS and Credit Suisse. Raiffeisen International and Erste Bank followed in places 4 and 6.

Bank Austria and UniCredit CEE Private Banking
Bank Austria is clearly market leader in the Austrian private banking market with the two renowned brands of Bank Austria Private Banking – the private banking division of a large bank – and Schoellerbank – a traditional private bank – commanding a market share of 19 percent. The Private Banking division manages total client assets of EUR 22.8 billion (an increase of 6.7 percent compared to the previous year) for foundations and 35,000 wealthy private clients. The Private Banking division is also market leader among foundations, providing services for 1,172 out of roughly 3,257 private foundations as well as 460 national and federal state foundations, accounting for 31 percent of the market.

UniCredit Private Banking CEE offers a comprehensive range of products and services that benefit over 25,000 customers in 9 countries in the region with total financial assets of about EUR 10 billion. UniCredit Private Banking wants to make financial services as comprehensible as possible for its customers and addresses the complexity of the markets with clear and transparent strategies to protect and optimise assets according to the requirements of customers.
