ORF enjoys hugely successful debut on capital market
- Significant demand means volume of private bond placement was increased from original EUR 100 million to EUR 180 million
To finance a project at ORF Centre on Vienna’s Küniglberg, ORF has issued its first bond in a private placement. The transaction was supported by UniCredit Bank Austria as lead arranger. This capital market transaction permits ORF to finance its media site on Küniglberg at an extremely low fixed rate of interest.
Helmut Bernkopf, Bank Austria Director for Private and Corporate Customers, explained: "We are delighted that we were able to accompany our long-standing client ORF with its extremely successful debut on the international capital market. The great interest from all the international investors in this transaction gives powerful proof of the trust in a stable and successful ORF in the long term. With this private bond placement ORF is laying the foundations for the long-term financing of its media location on Küniglberg."
Dieter Hengl, Board member responsible for Corporate & Investment Banking at Bank Austria, had this to say: "I congratulate ORF on this successful placement in the market. In my view, financing on the capital market is increasingly gaining in importance for companies like ORF that are constantly growing and seeking out new challenges. We expect to see issue volumes of Austrian companies remain steady and high in Austria in the coming years at EUR 5 to 7 billion, possibly with some market-induced shifts from one year to the next. Our capital market know-how and our market position within UniCredit Group coupled with our presence in all global financial centres as well as the excellent access to our core regions in Western, Central and Eastern Europe and 50 countries around the world are all vital competitive advantages of Bank Austria."
