Management change in UniCredit Leasing Austria

  • Karin Schmidt-Mitscher, previously CEO of UniCredit Leasing Austria, to head up Bank Austria Shareholding & Business Development from 1 September
  • Günter Populorum, previously CFO of UniCredit Leasing Austria, to be new CEO of UniCredit Leasing Austria

As of 1 September 2015 Karin Schmidt-Mitscher, previously CEO of UniCredit Leasing Austria, is to assume responsibilities for Bank Austria Shareholding & Business development. She will be following in the footsteps of Josef Duregger, who is switching to become CFO at Immobilien Holding GmbH. Günter Populorum, previously CFO of UniCredit Leasing Austria is to be the new CEO. Thomas Rubbert will remain as CRO in the management board and is also responsible for CFO and Global Business Service affairs.

Karin Schmidt-Mitscher (46) studied law in Vienna and also graduated with a masters from the Vienna University of Technology in "Real Estate Investment and Valuation". She began her career in 1994 in the Trainee programme of the then Creditanstalt. After various management positions in real estate and municipal financing as well as in real estate risk management, Schmidt-Mitscher switched in 2003 to real estate at Bank Austria, and since 2006 she has headed up the Real Estate Consulting & Investment department. In October 2012 she took over the role of CEO at UniCredit Leasing Austria. Additionally, she was and is a Managing Board and Supervisory Board member at various Bank Austria subsidiaries.

Günter Populorum (53) began his career as a wholesaler at a textiles company. Born in Vienna, he spent more than fifteen years from 1990 as Finance & Administration Manager at Pioneer Hi-Bred, a company based in the USA, where he was responsible for controlling, accounting and human resources in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2006 and 2007 Günter Populorum was managing director of the culinary division of Verkehrsbüro group. In early November 2007 he switched to UniCredit, where Populorum assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer at UniCredit Leasing Austria. In this role he was responsible for all the company’s business management affairs. His duties included accounting, controlling, tax and treasury and the sales area partner network since 2013.

Josef Duregger (59, born in East Tyrol) started his professional career at BAWAG after finishing his studies, followed by Investkredit, Länderbank and Bank Austria New York. Since August 2001 he has headed up Bank Austria Shareholding & Business Development. In mid-May 2015 he was appointed CFO of Immobilien Holding. In early September he also will become CFO at WED Wiener Entwicklungsgesellschaft für den Donauraum AG (DC-Tower).
