UniCredit Bank Austria AG sells Seehotel Klopein to Marolt Hotels GmbH
- Together with his daughter Larissa Marolt, Heinz Anton Marolt acquires Seehotel Klopein, until now operated by Wirtschaftsverein of Bank Austria
- The new owners are planning to enhance the tourist attractions at Klopeiner See
Given its stronger focus on core banking business, Bank Austria has decided to withdraw from its hotel business at Klopeiner See and to sell the Seehotel Klopein. The sale process, initiated in the previous year, was completed in June: the property has been sold to Marolt Hotels GmbH. This means that the new owner of the Seehotel Klopein remains in the region. The contracting parties have agreed not to disclose the sale price and the transaction details.
The sale of the Seehotel Klopein to the experienced hotelier family Marolt from southern Carinthia will provide a boost to the Klopeiner See tourist region – the family wants to build on the tourist opportunities which are currently available. The new owners are planning to expand the hotel's existing seminar facilities, and they will count on employees and pensioners of Bank Austria – until now the hotel's regular customers.
The hotel, which dates back to the 1920s, was pulled down in 1978 and rebuilt until 1982. The property (47,000 m2) consists of several pieces of land, including an 8,000 m2 strip of beach. In recent years the Seehotel Klopein has recorded about 20,000 overnight stays each year.
