Mirko Bianchi designated as Bank Austria’s new Chief Financial Officer
Bank Austria’s Supervisory Board has designated Mirko Bianchi, 53, as the bank’s new Chief Financial Officer. This decision is subject to the consent of the supervisory authorities. On 1 June he will succeed in this function Francesco Giordano, 49, who will move to HypoVereinsbank as Chief Financial Officer.

I am pleased that we can again welcome an outstanding expert from our own ranks, Mirko Bianchi, as a new member of Bank Austria’s Management Board. His designation proves once again that we benefit from a large potential of top managers in our European banking group, and it will ensure the exchange of know-how across national borders."
Mirko Bianchi gained valuable experience at large international financial institutions and international rating agencies for which he was active in major international financial centers including New York and London.
Born in Switzerland, Mirko Bianchi earned an MSc in Chemical Process Engineering from ETH in Zurich. He earned an MBA, Marketing & Finance, from Fordham University, New York, in 1991 and completed the Executive Program in Financial Analysis at the Northwestern University, Chicago, in 1994. After his finance degree, he joined BCI Capital in New York in 1992 to work as an equity analyst. Further steps in his career in New York: Vice President and Senior Analyst at Moody’s Investors Service, Director Debt Capital Markets Ratings Advisory at Deutsche Bank Securities. In 2000 Mirko Bianchi moved to London to join UBS Investment Bank, where his responsibilities as Managing Director and Global Head of Ratings Advisory until 2009 included the markets of New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Melbourne. In October 2009, Mirko Bianchi joined UniCredit in Milan as Head of Group Finance, where his responsibilities have included the Group’s funding strategies, asset liability management, strategic investment portfolio, and liquidity management. In addition, he was also co-heading the Group’s Treasury operations.
