Carlo Vivaldi designated new Head of Bank Austria’s CEE Division

Today Bank Austria has designated Carlo Vivaldi (48) as member of Bank Austria's Management Board with responsibility for the CEE Division. The proposal is in line with the resolution adopted today by UniCredit's Board of Directors by which Mr Vivaldi was appointed as new Head of the CEE Banking Division of UniCredit Group, and it is subject to the consent of Bank Austria's Supervisory Board and local authorities. In this position at UniCredit level, Mr Vivaldi succeeds Gianni Franco Papa (58), who was recently appointed Head of the Corporate & Investment Banking Division and Group Deputy General Manager of UniCredit.

In his new function, Carlo Vivaldi will be responsible for the further development of the leading international banking network in Central and Eastern Europe and for business in the region. Within UniCredit, Bank Austria is the sub-holding company for the leading banking network in Central and Eastern Europe in 13 countries, with about 48,000 employees and some 2,500 branches.

Erich Hampel, Chairman of Bank Austria's Supervisory Board: "Carlo Vivaldi was a member of Bank Austria's Management Board with different responsibilities already a few years ago. He is a top manager who has extensive international experience. With this nomination our Group proves once again its ability to fill key positions from its own ranks and thus ensure maximum continuity at the highest management level."

Willibald Cernko, Chairman of Bank Austria's Management Board: "Despite the current geopolitical tensions in the region, we continue to see ourselves as a strategic long-term investor in CEE and we are confident of the region's long-term growth potential. Carlo Vivaldi is the ideal nominee for this position. He has international experience and his former function as Chief Financial Officer of Bank Austria has given him an excellent knowledge of the bank. I am convinced that with him we will be able to continue the success story of our commitment to the region."

Carlo Vivaldi holds a degree in business administration and started his career at Cassamarca SpA, as branch manager in Treviso. In 1999 he moved to UniCredit, where he initially worked in the Group's Planning & Control Department. Very soon he started his international career as manager in charge of New Europe Planning & Control. In 2002 he became a member of the Board of Directors and from 2005 to 2006 he performed the function of Chairman of the Audit Committee at UniCredit Romania. Other important steps in his career were Yapı Kredi – a joint venture of UniCredit and Koç Group – and Bank Austria. At Yapı Kredi, Carlo Vivaldi was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President from 2003 to 2007. From 2007 to the end of 2010, Mr Vivaldi was a member of Bank Austria's Management Board as Chief Financial Officer, before returning to Yapı Kredi in 2011 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director.
