Austria Campus at Vienna's Northern Railway Station
Bank Austria sells project with land use permission and building permit to group of buyers – construction work to start very soon

  • A group of buyers comprising investor Ronny Pecik’s RPR Privatstiftung and René Benko’s SIGNA will acquire the project, for which land use permission and a building permit have been obtained, from Bank Austria
  • The Austria Campus will be implemented according to plans of the winning project of the urban development competition (architect Boris Podrecca) and of the competition for the realisation of the gateway building (Soyka / Silber / Soyka Architekten)

A group of buyers comprising investor Ronny Pecik's RPR Privatstiftung and René Benko's SIGNA will acquire from Bank Austria the Austria Campus project, for which the bank has obtained land use permission and a building permit, at Vienna's Northern Railway Station and will build all Austria Campus buildings according to the submitted plans. Interior finishing work of Bank Austria's innovatively designed headquarters forming part of the Austria Campus will be performed by Bank Austria itself. The closing of the transaction is planned for the fourth quarter of 2014. The two parties have agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price and of the agreement.

Construction work will be based on the plans of the winning project of the urban planning competition (architect Boris Podrecca) and of the competition for the realisation of the gateway building (Soyka / Silber / Soyka Architekten). Completion of the entire Austria Campus is planned for year-end 2018. An advisory board on which Bank Austria will be represented will provide assistance for all implementation activities.

Bank Austria will rent the buildings constructed for the bank and will design the offices to create a highly modern office landscape. The building plots will be sold to the buyers together with the overall project. This decision is in line with Bank Austria's strategy, pursued for many years, of focusing on its core business as a major bank. While Bank Austria will play an important role in the overall process as financier of the project, the bank will withdraw from operational implementation.

Upon completion of its new headquarters at Vienna’s Northern Railway Station, Bank Austria will concentrate all employees from central Vienna-based departments and the entire Management Board in the new location.
