The new SmartBanking customer service model is being launched via a national marketing campaign following completion of an 8-month trial period. The excellent feedback from customers during the eight months and via the platform www.kundenforum.at was the decisive factor for the decision to launch the project throughout Austria. SmartBanking offers all customers wishing to use this service personal advice via videotelephony, telephone, SMS and in OnlineBanking. They can also access the entire branch network of Bank Austria to settle their routine banking business.
Willibald Cernko, chairman of Bank Austria’s Management Board, says: "Over the medium term we will be investing a multi-million euro amount for creating the bank of the future with our new SmartBanking business model. This is how we respond to changes in customer behaviour and position the bank to meet future challenges."
And Helmut Bernkopf, Bank Austria’s Management Board member with responsibility for retail and corporate customers, adds: "We are the only bank in Austria which offers personal advisory services via videotelephony, this is next generation banking. On this basis we deliver fully-fledgedbank advisory services to people’s living rooms; our focus is on providing personal services andhigh service quality. It is the customer who decides how, when and where he contacts us andavails himself of our services. The blending of virtual and stationary branches is our model for thebank of the future. We are offering the best in both worlds: online and in our branches."
The SmartBanking project involves substantial investments in equipping branches with multi-mediaterminals and cash recyclers for deposits, withdrawals and transfers. In an initial step, all BankAustria branches were moreover fitted with wireless LAN which is available to customers free ofcharge. Tablets and SignPads offer enhanced advisory services, and more specialists and advisoryteams are assigned to branches so as to more effectively meet customer needs. As a new feature,the Bank Austria apps for iPhone and android devices offer the possibility to generate and scan QRcodes on invoices and payment slips as well as a complete ATM locator covering all ATMs inAustria. The QR codes can be shared with friends. And the apps provide full support for all tablets.
Marketing campaign: the Samsung GALAXY Tablet 3 for new customers1
The centrepiece of the marketing campaign are "Samsung GALAXY Tablets 3" for newSmartBanking customers who open a superior account package including a credit card (such as an ErfolgsKonto Plus, Premium or Gold account), as long as stocks last.
To enable customers to extensively use the bank advisory services from the comfort of their livingroom, the hours of advisory services available to SmartBanking customers have initially been extended to 8.00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays; there are plans to subsequently increase this to 10.00 p.m. Visitors to the new website www.smartbanking.at can try their hand at videotelephony and will find all information on the new service model.
A new customer service model
"With SmartBanking we are now represented with the leading product on the market", says Helmut Bernkopf, "we can offer the whole range of banking products from finance to investment, complemented by qualified personal advisory services. SmartBanking is very different to the limited services provided by online banks. Every customer has his own relationship manager, with whom he can arrange an appointment for an advisory session. In addition, he can access Bank Austria’s entire branch network. With our online offering and self-service centres we are moreover at the customer’s disposal 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all routine banking transactions. We are thereby combining the Internet, MobileBanking with innovative apps, advisory services via videotelephony and our modernised branch network with upgraded self-service centres into a new service model."

The offer is available as long as stocks last. It is only available to new salary account customers who, on 1 August 2013or thereafter, did not maintain a valid account relationship for the settlement of payment transactions with Bank Austriaand who open one of the above-mentioned salary accounts (ErfolgsKonto Plus, Premium or Gold account) via SmartBanking (subject to an appropriate credit rating). Bank Austria will take care of the details involving the switch from another bank under its account change service. The account that is opened must be used for payments for a minimum period of 24 months.
