Bank Austria named Best Bank in Austria

  • The distinguished international financial magazine EUROMONEY has named Bank Austria the Best Bank in Austria in its Awards for Excellence 2012.
  • The key selection criteria for this award are the leadership quality, innovation and drive demonstrated by a bank in its respective market.

Willibald Cernko, CEO of Bank Austria, sees this award as confirmation of Bank Austria’s consistent customer orientation: "I especially want to thank our customers for their trust and our employees for their dedication, without which we never would have received this honour. Particularly amidst the difficult conditions on the financial markets at the moment, this award serves as a further confirmation of our solid business model as a broadly based commercial bank. It also motivates us to carry on with and further develop our activities, which are focused on providing financing and advice for small and medium-sized businesses and for private households. Examples of this include the relaunch of our One Billion for the Economy initiative and our advisory initiative for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME info days with free funding advisory, etc.) as well as our innovative services for private customers (SmartBanking, MobileBanking, etc.). Our customers can rely on us whenever they are in need of financing or financial services – particularly during difficult economic times."

In recent years, Bank Austria has repeatedly been selected as the Best Bank in Austria, Bank of the Year in CEE and Best Cash Management House in Austria by leading industry magazines such as Global Finance, The Banker and EUROMONEY.

EUROMONEY is the world’s leading financial magazine according to independent market research studies (such as the Global Capital Markets Survey). On the European market, EUROMONEY is ranked third behind Financial Times and The Economist. The magazine has been honouring outstanding institutions and individuals in the financial services industry with its Awards for Excellence since 1992. The Awards for Excellence include around 25 different global awards for financial services providers and capital market participants as well as awards for the best banks and securities firms in roughly 100 countries around the world. The analysis of the candidates and selection of the winners are performed by an expert committee led by the magazine’s editor, Clive Horwood. The assessment focuses not only on the banks’ operating figures, but also on technological innovations and strategic developments.
