Bank Austria Management Board member Jürgen Danzmayr moves to UniCredit Bank in Munich

  • Jürgen Danzmayr will move to Munich to head the Private Banking Division of UniCredit Bank AG and will be appointed to the Management Board of that bank with effect from 1 July 2011
  • Bank Austria's CEO Willibald Cernko will assume Jürgen Danzmayr's responsibilities in Austria on a temporary basis and take charge of the Private Banking Division

Jürgen Danzmayr, Management Board member responsible for Private Banking at Bank Austria, will take up a new management function in UniCredit Group. He will move to UniCredit Bank AG (the former Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG), Munich, to head the Private Banking Division; Jürgen Danzmayr will be appointed to the Management Board of UniCredit Bank AG. This is the resolution of the Supervisory Board of UniCredit Bank today. In this function he will succeed Andreas Wölfer, who will leave the Group. Bank Austria's CEO Willibald Cernko will assume Jürgen Danzmayr's responsibilities in Austria on a temporary basis and take charge of the Private Banking Division – subject to the resolution of the Supervisory Board of Bank Austria. A new appointment to this Management Board position will be made soon – more detailed information will follow.

Jürgen Danzmayr, 60, will move to UniCredit Bank AG, Munich, to head the Private Banking Division and he will also be appointed to the Management Board of UniCredit Bank AG. He has been active in banking business for more than forty years and has gained a reputation as an excellent and customer-oriented private banker. Since 1998 he has held management functions in various subsidiaries and predecessor institutions of what is today Bank Austria – including Chairman of the Management Board of SKWB Schoellerbank and member of the Management Board of Creditanstalt. From 2001 he was Chairman of the Management Board of Schoellerbank. In May 2009 he was appointed to the Management Board of Bank Austria, with responsibility for Private Banking. Jürgen Danzmayr is married and has one son.

The Private Banking Division – comprising the two brands Bank Austria Private Banking and Schoellerbank – has offices in 25 locations throughout Austria, with about 550 employees serving foundations and almost 34,000 high net worth individuals with assets of at least EUR 500,000 for investment. The Private Banking Division is market leader in Austria, with a market share of 19 per cent, and manages client assets totalling about EUR 17.1 billion. The investment strategy gives priority to preserving wealth over achieving short-term performance, while managing risk through broad diversification.
