Bank Austria Job News:
Giuseppe Aquaro appointed as the new head of Internal Audit
Aquaro’s predecessor and long-standing chairperson of the Central Works Council, Hedwig Fuhrmann, will enter retirement

As of today, Giuseppe Aquaro, 48, will take over as the head of the Internal Audit department at Bank Austria. He will succeed Hedwig Fuhrmann, who will go into retirement. For nearly four decades Fuhrmann performed various functions within the banking group. Since 1984, Hedwig Fuhrmann has dedicated herself to representing the concerns and interests of Bank Austria’s employees as a member of the Works Council. She was elected chairperson of the Central Works Council in 1994. Over four years ago, Fuhrmann stepped down from this position and took over as the head of Internal Audit.

According to Willibald Cernko, CEO of Bank Austria: "Whether as a lobbyist or as the head of Internal Audit – Hedwig Fuhrmann is deeply committed to everything she does. This dedication was always accompanied by a high level of competence and a great deal of expert knowledge. I would like to thank her for her work and wish her all the best in the future. At the same time, I have the pleasure of welcoming aboard Giuseppe Aquaro, a prominent expert, as her successor."

Giuseppe Aquaro is a trained economist and has been working in the banking sector since 1987. After nine years of audit activity at the Italian Securities Market Regulator (CO.N.SO.B.) he joined UniCredit in 1998, where he has performed various functions since then. His last position was as the head of Group On Site Audit for Bank Austria’s parent company. At Bank Austria, Giuseppe Aquaro will be responsible for the internal audit of all group subsidiaries in Austria and in CEE as well as for Global Banking Services. Aquaro is married and has three children.
