Best Employer Award 2010 of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Vienna awarded to Bank Austria
- By awarding the Best Employer Awards, the MS Society of Vienna honours companies which allow people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis to continue to carry out their jobs successfully
- Companies are nominated by people diagnosed with MS, who are of the opinion that their employers distinguished themselves by showing particular understanding and being considerate
After the nominations had been submitted for 2010, the nominations of two large companies were found to be equal and worth of awarding following a thorough review. Therefore, the Best Employer Award 2010 of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Vienna, sponsored by the company Biogen Idec, is awarded to two companies: Bank Austria and the Vienna Airport. Worries about their jobs is one of the major problems of the people concerned, who often decide to conceal their condition. Therefore, the award for exemplary employers was created.
Eva Artner was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) already in 2000. In spite of several exacerbations, she is still working in her demanding job in the Global Securities Sales & Services division of Bank Austria. She had this opportunity thanks to the understanding reaction of her employer. Therefore, Eva Artner explains the reasons for the nomination of Bank Austria for the Best Employer Award as follows, "I am sure there are not many companies and employers, where a whole division supports someone in the same way as it happens in my case. Both the head of my department, Günter Schnaitt, and my colleagues are very understanding and always check whether I am doing fine. This is a working environment you can only wish for."
Günter Schnaitt, head of Global Securities Services Bank Austria, points out, "Eva Artner is a highly reliable and successful employee. We are very delighted that she nominated us as an exemplary employer. This is a special honour for us."
