Bank Austria Creditanstalt Wohnbaubank: Total volume of issues climbs to approximately EUR 4.4 billion
- Leading position among Austria’s issuers of home building bonds confirmed once again
Bank Austria Creditanstalt Wohnbaubank AG placed issues totalling EUR 262 million on the market in fiscal year 2008, pushing the bank’s total volume of issues since its founding in 1994 to over EUR 4.4 billion.
This corresponds to nearly 30 per cent of all of the home building bonds in circulation in Austria. Bank Austria Creditanstalt Wohnbaubank has once again defended its leading position among Austria’s issuers of home building bonds.
Nearly two-thirds of the new issues were fixed-interest home building bonds with coupons starting at 4 per cent and maturities ranging from ten to twelve years.
The low-interest loans issued in fiscal year 2008 helped to co-finance and support the construction of around 4,000 new flats and the renovation of over 3,800 flats throughout Austria. In this way, Bank Austria Creditanstalt Wohnbaubank has once again made an important contribution to the economy by helping to realise high-quality but still affordable housing. Demand for these affordable refinancing options continues to be strong, particularly in the area of social housing, as a result of the ever increasing demand for housing and population growth, factors which are having an especially strong effect in major population centres.
To date, a total investment volume of around EUR 6.6 billion has been triggered by the issue proceeds. The balance sheet total of Bank Austria Creditanstalt Wohnbaubank was around EUR 4.4 billion in 2008. The bank’s operating result amounted to nearly EUR 6.5 million and its annual net profit was more than EUR 6.3 million.
