Bank Austria employees donate EUR 38,575 to SOS Children's Villages
Bank Austria takes on 10 house sponsorships across Austria

As of today, Bank Austria has taken on ten house sponsorships to support a family in each of the ten SOS Children's Villages in Austria. The house sponsorships, which cover all nine of the federal states in Austria, have been made possible by a substantial donation from Bank Austria employees of EUR 38,575 and mark the start of a long-term partnership with SOS Children's Villages (SOS-Kinderdorf), which will be further intensified in the coming months.

This year, spurred on by the fundraising aspect, more than 7,700 Bank Austria employees took part in the Group-wide employee survey. For each completed questionnaire, 5 euros were automatically added to the donation fund for the house sponsorships. "With a record survey participation rate of almost 80 per cent, our employees have shown a superb level of commitment and also enabled our house sponsorships to get off to a perfect financial start," commented Bank Austria Management Board member Regina Prehofer who was delighted with the result. "We intend to gradually expand the partnership through further activities and so help to provide an even more secure livelihood for the SOS Children's Village families."

To launch the cooperation, Prehofer visited the SOS Children's Village in Vienna and the sponsored family and handed over a cheque for the full donation to the managing director of SOS Children's Village Vienna, Erwin Rossmann. During the visit, which also included the traditional Viennese coffee and pastry, the sponsors were presented with a certificate in recognition of their support. "As the biggest bank in the country, Bank Austria is the ideal long-term cooperation partner for SOS Children's Villages in Austria. We are particularly pleased by the bank's holistic approach and the fact that the partnership is not only of great social benefit outside the bank but is also 'lived' by the bank's employees," commented Rossmann.

Through each house sponsorship, Bank Austria is supporting a family comprising an SOS mother or SOS father and 3-7 children. The donation enables these families to meet their day-to-day living costs and to finance purchases they could otherwise not afford, such as toys and therapeutic material.
