Bank Austria job notice: UniCredit CAIB AG with new management team

  • Alicja Kornasiewicz appointed new CEO
  • Heinz Meidlinger appointed new Deputy CEO

UniCredit CAIB AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Austria, has a new management team with immediate effect. Alicja Kornasiewicz, 56, has been appointed the company’s new CEO and will assume this function in addition to her responsibility as Head of Emerging Europe within UniCredit’s Markets & Investment Banking Division. Heinz Meidlinger, 52, has been appointed Deputy CEO of UniCredit CAIB AG. The appointments of the two top managers are subject to confirmation by the Austrian Financial Market Authority. 

“I am pleased that Alicja Kornasiewicz and Heinz Meidlinger, two experienced managers and business experts, will be the new top management of UniCredit CAIB”, says Erich Hampel, Chairman of the Management Board of Bank Austria and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of UniCredit CAIB AG. The other members of UniCredit CAIB’s Management Board – Christoph Raninger (Head of Business), Robert Wieselmayer (COO) and Gerhard Deschkan (Head of Market & Credit Risks) – will maintain their positions. Within UniCredit’s Markets & Investment Banking Division. Klaus Requat will assume the position of Head of Investment Banking Austria.
UniCredit CAIB AG was established with a full banking licence at the beginning of 2006 and combines all of Bank Austria’s trading subsidiaries under one roof. As communicated previously, all trading activities of Bank Austria will be combined within UniCredit CAIB by the end of 2008. As a consequence, Bank Austria’s trading activities in capital markets will be conducted via UniCredit CAIB in the future.

Alicja Kornasiewicz, who joined UniCredit CAIB in October 2000, has recently been appointed Head of Emerging Europe of UniCredit MIB Division. Prior to joining the bank, she served as Secretary of State in the Polish Ministry of the Treasury from 1997 to 2000. From 1993 to 1997 she worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as a Senior Banker in London and later as a Representative in Poland, where she managed the Warsaw office. Between 1973 and 1993 she held various posts in the private and public sector. Alicja Kornasiewicz served as a Member of Parliament following Poland’s first free elections. 

Heinz Meidlinger started his career in Creditanstalt AG’s branch network in 1970 before moving to the Treasury unit in 1980. Between 1987 and 2006, Heinz Meidlinger held various management positions in the Treasury, Markets and Custody sectors at Bank Austria Creditanstalt. Since 2006, Heinz Meidlinger has been active in UniCredit’s Markets & Investment Banking Division, where he was initially responsible as Global Head for Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) and most recently held the position of General Manager Global Markets. Furthermore, Heinz Meidlinger has been a member of various Supervisory Boards of Bank Austria Group's CEE subsidiaries for many years.
