"Global Finance" chooses Bank Austria as Austria's best bank
American financial magazine "Global Finance" has chosen Bank Austria as Austria's best bank, based on the results of its "The World´s Best Banks in Developed Markets" annual survey. Bank Austria CEO Erich Hampel says, "The award from 'Global Finance' acknowledges our employees' commitment and professionalism and reflects the fact that we are not only Austria's biggest bank, but also its best."
The essential criteria for selection are customer orientation, commercial success and the prerequisites for continued positive growth. 'Global Finance' conducted qualitative interviews with stock analysts, rating experts and banking industry consultants to complement quantitative data such as balance sheet growth and profitability. Financial magazine 'Global Finance' has been in existence for 21 years, with around 284,000 readers in 158 countries around the world. The prize will be awarded in Washington D.C. on 13 October 2008.
With a balance sheet total of 209.2 billion euros and pre-tax profits of 2.7 billion as of the end of 2007, Bank Austria, which is a member of the UniCredit Group, is not only Austria's biggest bank, but also its most profitable. More than 54,000 employees in 2,800 branches service some 23 million customers in Austria and the CEE countries.
