T-Mobile Austria and BA-CA in cooperation
- Europe-wide cooperation between UniCredit Group and T-Mobile
- Group customer T-Mobile uses network of the first truly European banking group
From October 2006 Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) will take over payments processing for the wireless provider T-Mobile Austria. This cooperation is part of an agreement regarding the consolidation of the entire Europe-wide customer debiting and payment settlement process concluded between the group parent company T-Mobile, Bonn, and UniCredit Group. In Germany, T-Mobile is serviced by HypoVereinsbank, in Austria the services are rendered by BA-CA. The cooperation between T-Mobile and UniCredit Group encompasses a total of 100 million transactions annually; out of this total volume BA-CA will settle some 12 million.
Thanks to a high level of standardisation and strict controls BA-CA achieves an error-free processing rate of almost 100 percent. "The group customer T-Mobile will leverage the network of the first truly European banking group. A nice "quick win" for both sides", says Robert Zadrazil, Managing Board member responsible for Global Banking Services at BA-CA.
T-Mobile is one of the first German industrial enterprises to use the so-called SWIFT network for data transmission. This technology, which has mainly been used by banks so far, supports a secure and cost-effective high-performance data communication infrastructure for cross-border payment processing. UniCredit Group is technology leader in this field.
