Hengl sees the internationality as a significant unique feature of the UniCredit Group compared to European competitors: "Our strong, international network makes us a successful and reliable partner for international business transactions. Our presence in our home markets Austria, Germany and Italy as well as in the growth markets of Central and Eastern Europe is strong. We also provide access to a network of 4,000 correspondent banking relationships covering 175 countries.“ UniCredit most recently opened a new branch in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The branch will support further enhancement of cross-border business generation and expand the bank’s international offering for its corporate clients and financial institutions.

The criteria for choosing the winners included transaction volume, scope of global coverage, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative technologies. Global Finance also considered input from industry analysts, corporate executives and technology specialists.
