While real GDP growth in the eight new EU member states from Central and Eastern Europe declined from 5.3 per cent (yoy) in the second quarter of 2004 to 4.5 per cent in the third quarter, economic growth in the CEE-11 countries reached 5.4 per cent in the same period.

While FDI flows to the new EU member states (CEE8) fell by one half from EUR 21 billion in 2002 to EUR 9.3 billion in 2003, FDI to the countries in South-East Europe (SEE7) jumped from some EUR 4.4 billion to nearly EUR 6.5 billion.
16.06.2004 BA-CA will strongly expand its banking network in CEE
Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) will expand its branch network in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) from currently 850 offices to about 1,050 by 2007. The number of clients will increase, without taking acquisitions into account, from 4.0 to to 4.5 million by 2005.
16.06.2004 Changes in the CEE Managing Board of BA-CA
Subject to approval by the local authorities, the following changes in the CEE Managing Board of Bank Austria Creditanstalt (CEE) will become effective as of 1 September 2004.
07.06.2004 BA-CA will strongly expand its banking network in Poland
Bank BPH, the Polish subsidiary of Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA), will expand its branch network from currently 475 offices to about 555 branches. This decision was made by the Supervisory Board of Bank BPH in its meeting held on 4 June 2004.

26.01.2004 BA-CA's top management team "rejuvenated": focus on further growth in Central and Eastern Europe
Initiated a year ago, the "generational change" in the top management team at Bank Austria Creditanstalt (BA-CA) continues. Today the bank's Supervisory Board has appointed Erich Hampel, aged 52, as Chairman of the Managing Board. He succeeds Karl Samstag, who will leave BA-CA's Managing Board on cordial terms. Erich Hampel assumes his new function with immediate effect.
