Shared charges:  Bank charges in Austria debit to the payer, outside Austria debit to the beneficiary. Other fee options are not possible.

In non-euro countries, the charges for transfers in euro are the same as those for domestic foreign-currency transfers (in accordance with EU Regulation 2560/2001), even if the customer holds a euro account (= foreign-currency account) there.

Of course you can also give an EU cross-border payment order easily and conveniently via TelefonBanking on tel. 05 05 05-15. Further details are given in the new item "Internal Market order" under OnlineBanking.

Important: IBAN and BIC.

For the low-cost and quick execution of your EU crossborder payment order, you have to indicate the IBAN and the BIC. The IBAN is an internationally standardised description of the banking connection. It includes the country code, bank and account data, as well as a
check digit (for instance: AT 51 1200 0123 4567 8900).

The BIC is a bank’s identification code which is used worldwide. It is also often referred to as SWIFT code. Bank Austria’s BIC is: BKAUATWW.

Your payments can only be transmitted automatically and treated as low-cost EU cross-border payments if the IBAN and the BIC are indicated. Conversely, individuals living abroad who wish to transfer money to you have to indicate the IBAN and the BIC of your
accounts held at Bank Austria.

Bank Austria customers find their personal IBAN and the BIC in the bottom line of their account statements and in OnlineBanking (Financial Status - Account details).

IBAN calculator

Bank Austria has decided not to make available an IBAN calculator. Tests of IBAN calculators made available by other banks and other providers have shown that input mistakes – e.g. input of a 9-digit account number – can lead to wrong results. In such cases, payment orders cannot be executed at the same price as domestic transfers, or not at all. Therefore the beneficiary should be contacted directly to find out the IBAN of his/her account.

You can use the 24h ServiceLine ( within Austria: 050505 25) around the clock to enquire for an IBAN at Bank Austria. For any such enquiry, a correct 11-digit Bank Austria account number must be indicated.
