The Vienna regional healthcare authorities (Wiener Gebietskrankenkasse; WGKK) conferred Bank Austria with the seal of quality for "Workplace Health Promotion". This was in recognition of the Bank’s comprehensive, long-term dedication to the health of its employees. The seal of quality is awarded every two years by the Austrian Network for WHP with the support of the Fund for a Healthy Austria (Fonds Gesundes Österreich). By doing this, the WGKK supports companies and institutions that take a holistic approach to WHP in their measures and investments to promote the health of their employees.
For the sixth awarding of the seal of quality, the WGKK invited the winners to a special event, where the federal minister of health, Alois Stöger, presented them with the seal of quality. He congratulated the winning companies and institutions on their dedication: "I am aware of the achievements you have made. And I congratulate you on adopting a management approach that focuses on sustainable workplace health promotion." Ingrid Reischl, the chairwoman of the WGKK, described the health of employees as the basis for a company’s economic success. As she put it, a sense of well-being in the workplace increases motivation, so it benefits both the employer and the employee.
Bank Austria has a long tradition of workplace health promotion for all employees throughout Austria. The focuses are on the musculoskeletal system, mental health and prevention in the sense of "empowering" employees at their workstations.
